This fun and creative party/class has us making scones and butter!
Using the theme from Alice in Wonderland it paves the way for children to connect with their unlimited imagination. This is the perfect atmosphere for them to learn.
Using whole food ingredients children learn about measuring and combining ingredients together. Reading and following recipes and what they are there for.
Using different mixing skills children learn about rubbing butter and flour and stirring ingredients together to create the texture needed for the dough, then letting them shape the dough into scone size.
Then while these are cooking we turn cream into butter by hand showing them how this process works and giving them an understanding of where butter comes from.
Then we sit down at a decorated table with little china tea party cups and saucers and colourful teapots filled with either natural flavoured milk or water or herbal tea. The children will be explained where these tea sets have come from to give them awareness of special things. And that we can use special things, have fun and be gentle and careful at the same time.
Then children get to indulge in hot scones, homemade butter and jam.
